Far Cry 5 was the first one to have co-op like this. Far Cry 4 had some co-op but I don't think you can even play the missions together (or at least the story missions). Very primitive in comparison. Its the same but no story missions . 4 is the only other one that allows coop campaign, and it only saves for the host like 5.
