King's Landing is the capital of the Seven Kingdoms, located in the crownlands on the east coast of Westeros. It is situated along the kingsroad at the mouth of the Blackwater Rush and overlooks Blackwater Bay.
Airing on TV screens in 170 countries, Game of Thrones is most popular show in the world. While the series is filmed in about 7 different countries, Dubrovnik is used to film most of the exterior shots of King’s Landing.

2. The filming locations. Although there were reports of 25 Game of Thrones Ireland locations, the main ones are Tollymore Forest Park, Inch Abbey, Castle Ward, Toome Canal, Slemish Mountain, the Glens of Antrim, Cushendun Caves, Murlough Bay, Ballintoy Harbour and The Dark Hedges. Of course, the Game of Thrones used Dubrovnik for things other than Kings Landing. One of the other places depicted using places from Dubrovnik is the quirky city of Qarth. Rector’s Palace is a 14th-century Gothic-Renaissance palace initially built for the rector governing Dubrovnik and today houses a museum.

Kolorina / Pile Harbour (Game of Thrones Map: Kings Landing Harbour) Kolorina is a small fishing harbor and the oldest port located between the Bokar Fortress on the left and Fort Lovrijenac on the right. There are two beach bars just above the steps.

Forgot how large Westeros is, but Kings Landing has a population of 500 000 people and Essos is roughly the size of Asia. From memory grrm said that westeros is roughly the size of South America. Don't quote me on that one though :-P. For a sense of scale of Westeros, The Wall is 300 miles long .
